Maidstone

Inspired by Vincent van Gogh I experimented with a slightly different technique then what I’m used to. So instead of realism, I went for impressionism.

I had to really force myself to use bigger brushes, bolder strokes and to ignore the urge to paint the nitty gritty details.

In the end I’m happy with it, but I can’t help to also wonder what Vincent would think of this piece … 🤔 well, I guess we’ll never know.

The scene is based on a photograph that I made when we went hiking in Maidstone (UK). It was a beautiful sunny day, in early spring.
